TOEFL English proficiency test system allows students to take this exam at home due to the pandemic. This enables students to take the TOEFL iBT test from their homes. Equipment Requirements

- Candidates cannot use a tablet or mobile, use a desktop or laptop computer.
- Only one screen or monitor is permitted, do not use multiple monitors and screens.
- The following operating systems are licensed to take the exam. These are: PC (Windows operating system, version 10 or higher) or MAC (Mac OS X 10.13 or higher).
- Firefox or Chrome browsers.
- To hear the proctor, use an internal or external speaker while taking the test.
- Install ProctorU® Guardian Browser on your computer to communicate with your proctor while taking the exam.
- Using earphones and headsets is not permitted.
- Use an external or internal microphone that must not be a part of a headset and communicate with the help of a proctor.
- A separate camera or a webcam is allowed which are built into the computer or monitor screen.
- Before starting the test, candidates have to move the camera to show the 360-degree view of the space where they are taking the exam which also includes your tabletop surface and below area.
Environment Requirements

- Candidates must be alone in their room and no one should enter while the test begins.
- You are not allowed to take the test in public locations such as a park, cafe, or restaurant.
- You must have to close all windows and doors before the test begins.
- The monitor or laptop must be on a desk or other tabletop surface.
- Place your monitor laptop and chair so that your room’s door can be visible to the proctor.
- The surface areas and surroundings must be cleared and no items should be there including your phones, camera, notes, or study material.
- Candidates cannot sit or lie in a bed, overstuffed chair, or couch. They must sit on a standard chair.
- Drinking and eating between the exams is not allowed.
- Throughout the test, candidates’ voices and faces must remain visible and not covered by hair, hat, or other item. Some head wear like religious are allowed if their ears remain visible during the exam.
- Candidates will be monitored through the camera by the proctor and their photo will be shared with the universities or colleges that receive their scores so dressed well.
- Test takers can take notes on a single piece of paper for security purposes and that must be blank.
