IELTS, the leading English language testing provider has issued a formal apology after discovering an unexpected technical glitch that has caused changes in the test results. Many test takers, who took the IELTS exam between August 2023 and September 2025, have been informed that their original Reading and Listening scores may have been incorrectly calculated, and updated results have now been released.

The Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan has announced that, all international students must submit proof of English proficiency when applying for MBBS programs from now on. As per Order No. 600, every MBBS candidate applying in the country is required to submit evidence of English proficiency. It can be submitted by taking globally accepted tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, or Duolingo. This shift will have a direct impact on all those applicants who want to commence their medical studies in Kazakhstan from the next academic session.
